Detroit Lions Resurgence

What This Site Covers

Since their last championship in 1957 (70 years next year) the lions have been known for one thing. Losing. From wasting talent like Barry Sanders, Calvin Johnson, and Matthew Stafford, to their 30 year playoff drought, the Lions organization has been seen as a joke to the league. In fact, a common joke was that the Tampa Bay Bucceneers won the division more recently than the Lions and they arent even in the division anymore. The Bobby Layne curse, the Millen Era, the Patricia and Quinn era. The lions were, well, losers.

That all changed on January 14th, 2021. Brad Holmes, then director of College Scouting for the Los Angeles Rams, was hired by the Lions to be their new General Manager. 1 week lated, on January 20th, 2021 he hired Dan Campbell, a Tight Ends coach from New Orleans. Many saw the hire as a failure, thinking that Dan Campbell was a "Meathead football guy" who was undeserving and unprepared to lead a team. His introductury press confrence, however, is where some saw a glimmer of hope. He spoke of "drowning your opponents" and "Biting kneecaps". This to many looked like a ridiculous display of machismo, but some saw it for what it was. A genuine belief that no matter what, the Lions would get back up. Now, 5 years later, the Lions have won the NFC North 2 times, have won 3 playoff games, and held the 1 seed in the NFL for the first time in the Superbowl Era.

This site will cover that change.
